Project Summary

vpackager is a graphical development environment for VectorLinux's .tgz/.tlz packaging format. Intended to make the process of building, installing and packaging software from source easy for the new linux user. Includes a slack-desc writer to make sure that packages are created to Slackware packaging standards. Adds man pages and dependancy tracking information to the packages . Also features a front-end to cruxports4slack that offers enhanced functionality by featuring dependancy resolving capabilities plus a search feature to easily find your favorite applications and build them with the click of a button. The cruxports4slack front-end also features a repository management tool and the ability to modify build scripts to ensure you get the latest package built and installed in your system.

System Requirements

The vpackager project is developed around VectorLinux, but it should also work on other slackware derivate distros. The following dependancies must be net for vpackager to work on your system.

  • gambas2-runtime >= 2.5.0
  • pkgtools-tukaani >= 1.2_rc1 (needed for lzma compression)
  • CMake >= 2.4.6
  • Python >= 2.4.3
  • requiredbuilder >= 0.14.7
  • cruxports4slack >= 1.0 | cruxports4slack >= 20061113 (for cruxports4slack functionality)
  • git >= 1.5.22
  • subversion >= 1.4.4
